MACHINE CONSTRUCTION & FEATURES

Machine Base – The machine base is designed and produced with electro-welded steel components for  maximum rigidity and support. A chip removal auger and 30 US gallon coolant tank are  built into the base. Leveling bolts are located at corners of the machine

10 HP Motor – Heavy duty 2 stage gearbox and 10 HP motor, which is controlled by an AC inverter  drive. Blade speed is easily adjusted from the control console and the wide range of  available band speeds allows for efficient cutting of many types of material.

Blade Wheels – High quality cast iron wheels with heavy-duty wheel & gearbox shaft bearings. Blade Guides – Replaceable carbide insert guides housed in two heavy duty cast iron guide arms provide  cut accuracy of + / – .002” per linear inch of material and excellent vibration dampening.  Saw guides are automatically set hydraulically. The idler side guide arm is mechanically  connected to the front vise moveable jaw and moves in tandem with the opening and  closing of the jaw. This provides proper positioning of the guide arm spacing, in relation  to material width, at all times.

Vising – Full capacity, full stroking hydraulic vises with replaceable wear strips provide for efficient  vise loading with minimal material vibration. 120” single shake

Powered Blade Brush – Hydraulically driven 3” blade brush keeps the blade gullets clean, helping to  maximize blade performance and life.

Blade Tensioning – Hydraulic blade tensioning provides consistent automatic blade tension while  allowing quick and easy blade changing.

Coolant System – A centrifugal pump immersed in the 30-gallon coolant reservoir delivers ample coolant  flow through carbide faced and nozzle guides. Flow cocks are present for coolant  quantity adjustment.

Work Light A halogen work light provides substantial lighting over work piece / cutting area.

Blade Breakage Switch If the blade breaks during operation the machine will be shut down.

Hydraulically Driven Chip Auger Built into the base, an auger screw pulls chips from the base and  discharges at side of machine.

High Resolution Feed Rate Valve – A critical feature when cutting hard to machine materials (special  alloys) when a constant feed rate is a necessity. The valve incorporates two multi-turn  feed rate control knobs, an “extra fine” micrometer style and a fine metering valve that  offers finer control than the conventional valve. During cutting only one feed control valve is used and the second should be closed.

Hydraulic System – A 3HP driven hydraulic pump supplies system pressure. The system pressure  through 3-position directional valves controls all vising, head up/down, blade tension, saw  guide tension, and guide arm and shuttle movement. The pump and motor assembly and  hydraulic manifold complete with all function directional valves all swing out with the  hydraulic compartment door for easy service access, and minimal downtime.

Hyd-Mech’s Direct Down feed- (DDF) Provides easy adjustment of both head feed rate and cutting  pressure. Machine sawing chart provides proper blade speed, tooth pitch, feed rate and  feed force recommendations. Saw head control includes fast approach control feature for  quick set ups. Feed rate is displayed on PLC in linear inches per minute during the  sawing operation via rotary encoder.

Electrical System – The electrical control components are housed in a cabinet at the left rear side of the  machine. The operator manual switches and PLC control are conveniently located on a  console in the front of the machine. Components and wiring are neatly laid out and  labeled for easy troubleshooting.

Controls – Conveniently located in the front of the machine, to the right of the out feed table, the  selector switches and pushbuttons allow the operator to manually control all machine  functions including emergency stops.

The Mitsubishi PLC 100 controls the Automatic cycle. The operator enters job information  through the PLC interface keypad. The information required will be desired part length  and quantity of pieces. Up to 99 different jobs can be entered into the PLC memory, and  can be called up and performed at any time. Also, a job queue function allows up to 5  jobs to be picked from the memory, and run consecutively. Some unique features of the  PLC100 control are blade chamber, which separates the cut part to allow for more back  clearance (excellent for carbide blades); adjustable power down timer; coolant saver; trim  cut on or off; automatic blade kerf compensation.

In Manual mode – The PLC display will give blade speed; feed rate and length system readout. A single  part operation can also be performed while in the Manual mode. The operator simply  enters the desired part length, presses the cycle start button, starts the blade, and the  machine will index that length, cut it off and raise the head back up.

In Automatic mode – The PLC displays blade speed, feed rate, shuttle vise position, part length, quantity  required, and number of pieces cut.

Blade Drive – The blade drive motor is controlled by a Mitsubishi AC inverter drive. Provides smooth  operation and infinite adjustment from 40 to 300 sfm

OPTIONAL FEATURES

Full Capacity Overhead Bundling – Hydraulically powered overhead clamp that moves down on the  material from above. Its downward (clamping) and upward (unclamping) movement are  controlled and timed with the opening and closing of the side vise. Very effective, and  necessary for bundle cutting various material shapes & sizes. Can also be effective in  dampening of cutting vibration. INCLUDED

Out of Stock Switch – Mounted on the shuttle vise, when the vise closes with no material between its  jaws, the machine hydraulics will shut down (The cut in progress at the time of the switch  being tripped is finished before shut down occurs). This option allows the machine to be  left unattended with no danger of the machine continuing to cycle with no material left. INCLUDED
